Fr. Joseph Christensen, FMI established the Third Order Franciscans of Mary Immaculate on May 31st, 2011 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo, North Dakota, and has taken up residence in Warsaw, ND at St. Francis Friary. He currently is the Chaplain/Spiritual Director for St. Gianna’s Maternity Home also located in Warsaw, ND.  Ordained in 1997 in Fargo, ND, he hails from Essexville, Michigan, where he was raised by his parents, Virgil and Joyce, along with the rest of their 12 children. His previous assignments have been at St. Joseph’s Church in Devils Lake, ND, Sts. Anne and Joachim Church in Fargo, and most recently Parochial Vicar at St. Mary’s Cathedral also in Fargo.  As a Franciscan, Fr. Joseph is dedicated to the writings of St. Maximilian Kolbe and his Marian Total Consecration, and he also offers parish missions, retreats, days of recollection, spiritual direction, and Third Order Secular group facilitation along with his apostolic work at the St. Gianna Home in Warsaw, ND. We are grateful to have the very fatherly and kind leadership of Most Reverend John T. Folda as our Bishop and pray that God bless him abundantly in his episcopacy.

Meet Brother Francis Reineke
I began as a Novice with the Third Order Franciscans of Mary Immaculate this past August 14th, 2016 on the Feast day of Saint Maximillian Kolbe. Born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota as the ninth child in a family of twelve children, I was a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Mary, where I first met Father Joseph, FMI and served Mass for him when he was the Parochial Vicar. I have attended every J.M.I. Boys Camp since the first one in 2011, where I got my first glimpse of daily Religious Life, experiencing the daily Mass and Holy Hour like a friar, and I was especially moved by the chanting of the Divine Office. Ever since the Mass at the Cathedral where Father took his vows and founded the Order on May 31, 2011, I have felt a “pull” to the Religious Life. Now I am following the call of the Holy Spirit in discerning the living of my life as a friar in the FMI.

In the words of Fr. Joseph:
On August 14th, 2016 Brother Francis Reineke, FMI was received as a Novice here in Warsaw, ND, being vested in the Franciscan garb (habit) and taking the name, Brother Francis. We are so excited to have him in formation and edified by his dedication to the spirit of Saint Francis, his name sake. He has now professed his First Temporary Vows on August 15th, 2017 and Second Temporary Vows on August 15, 2018. It was a very blessed and joyous day to see the growth of our Franciscan Community, to be blessed to be in the presence of our good bishop, Most Reverend John Folda, and several priests and Deacon, Religious Sisters, and many lay faithful who came to show their support for Brother Francis on this special day of grace and promise. He is now close to finishing his second year in minor seminary at St. Gregory the Great in Seward, Nebraska. Please pray for Brother Francis and also for more vocations to our Community.
